Warlock
A warlock is a sorcerer who specializes in battle.
The Old World
From what is left of the history of the Old World, there are references to the Mage-Tyrants. These kings had built their reign on magical prowess and brutally repressed any dissent.
The Mage-Tyrants are the earliest known instances of the use of magic in war or repression.
The Red Cabal
The old kings feared repeating the reign of the Mage-Tyrants. They forbade sorcerers from fighting in any shape or form. Later, the emperor of the Eldar continued this policy
The Red Cabal was a hidden cult of sorcerers that sought to free sorcerers from these binds. They plotted the overthrow of the Empire with the use of powerful blood magic. This lead to the Night of Blood, where the Cabal fought the Royal Guard in the streets of Salne Togei. The Cabal was eventually overpowered, but not without enormous bloodshed.
Warlocks under Ebuin
In the years leading up the Fall of the Eldar, Ebuin managed to convince the Emperor to create a contingent of sorcerers under the emperors banner. The Emperor later attempted to revert his decree, but by that time, the rebellion was already underway.
